The Board of an Organisation has an important role to play. The Board is a collection of individuals (board members) that form the leadership group and is primarily responsible for governing, overseeing the affairs of and making strategic decisions on behalf of its’ members.
To properly oversee the affairs of an organisation, a Board should consist of Board members that possess a mix of skill sets, diversity and experiences. Each has a defined role and contributes to the collective decision making of the Board. A Board member role is a strategic position and should not be confused with the management and operational roles that are undertaken by employees like an Executive Officer or Director. The day to day work should be managed and completed by the staff and volunteers who have been engaged and are responsible for this purpose.
The Cabinet Makers Association of WA is indeed fortunate to have such a dedicated and skilled Board in place, each providing valuable advice, opinions and independent judgement to ensure all goals and activities set out in the Strategic Plan and achieved and align with the Associations’ Constitution. As in many other Not-for-profits organisations, the CMAWA Board work tirelessly behind the scenes and offer this time on a voluntary basis.

“I am very committed to the Vision and Mission of the CMAWA and will do everything in my power to ensure the Board fulfil their goals and aspirations to take the Association to a new and innovative platform. The Association is fundamentally our Members, both the Cabinet Makers and Associate Industry suppliers. It is therefore critical to factor in their individual needs with the aim to enhance their profitability and productivity. I am very much looking forward to this wonderful journey”
